Agriculture
Storage for irrigation, cold storage, processing, and farm operations.
Problem
Why this matters.
Agricultural operations face variable loads and unreliable rural grids. Storage and PV stabilize operations.
Farm loads are seasonal and unforgiving: irrigation pumps that must run through the dry season, cold rooms that can never stop, processing lines that peak at harvest — all fed by long rural feeders that sag and drop. Land for PV is the one resource in surplus, which makes solar-plus-storage the natural architecture.
Navvion Approach
How we deliver results.
Architecture
How the system fits together.
PV and battery connect with the weak rural feeder on a common bus. The battery rides through feeder sags, backs up cold storage, and shifts solar into evening pumping windows — with the grid reduced to one source among several.
Simplified one-line diagram. Final architecture is engineered per site.
Products Used
Navvion systems for this solution.
Navvion Omega hybrid systems carry pump stations and processing sheds on weak feeders; APB lithium racks back cold rooms and telecom/monitoring loads; Navvion Zero covers farmhouses and small outbuildings — all coordinated by the NavvionOS EMS so midday PV surplus becomes evening pumping energy.

Economics
What the payback looks like.
| Basis | Illustrative modeled scenario — not a quote |
| System | 250 kWh / 125 kW + on-site PV |
| Installed cost | $450 / kWh |
| Solar self-consumption shift | 1 cycle/day @ $0.09/kWh |
| Avoided outage / diesel cost | $14,000 / yr (critical cold-chain loads) |
| Net installed cost | $112,500 |
| Solar-shifting savings | $8,200 / yr |
| Outage/diesel avoidance | $14,000 / yr |
| Simple payback | ≈ 5.1 years |
| 20-year net return | $331,500 |

Run your numbersFAQ
Common questions.
Can the system keep cold rooms running through rural outages?
Yes — cold storage is the classic critical load. We size the reserve from your outage history and the thermal holdover of the rooms themselves.
Do irrigation pumps need special treatment?
Pump inrush drives the power rating more than the energy rating; the sizing exercise starts from your pump schedule and motor sizes.
Does this work with an existing farm solar system?
Yes — AC-coupled retrofit alongside existing PV is common, and the EMS shifts the surplus you currently export into your own evening load.
